A Rainy Day on Jebudo – Between Water and Silence

by digital-nagane 2025. 4. 12.

The road to the sea disappears twice a day. Jebudo Island, known for its tidal road, feels like a place where time pauses.

I came for the view, hoping for quiet skies and open sands. But the sky was gray, and rain began to fall. Unexpected, but somehow comforting.

“The rain added something the sun could not— depth, stillness, and poetry.”

Waiting for the Sea to Part

The famous tidal road was already underwater. Cars lined up, engines turned off, wipers ticking slowly. People waited, silently, with umbrellas half-open.

Nothing moved. Not the road, not the sea. Only the rain filled the air with its soft percussion.

“When the sea covers the path, it reminds us that not all journeys can be rushed.”

Walking Along the Shoreline

I left the waiting cars behind and wandered the shoreline. With each step, the mist grew thicker, blurring the trees, softening the horizon.

The wind wasn’t harsh, just constant— like a low whisper from the ocean. My umbrella tilted gently, matching the rhythm of my breath.

No crowds, no sounds, just the sound of water meeting land again and again.

“The quieter the place, the louder the moment becomes.”

Digital Nagane’s Reflection

“I came to see the tide, but ended up listening to silence.
Rain on Jebudo wasn’t a disappointment— it was a dialogue between sky, sea, and self.”

There are trips you plan and trips that find you. Jebudo in the rain was the latter. I left with wet shoes but a warm memory, and sometimes, that’s more than enough.
